CalorieCraft Privacy Policy

CalorieCraft is made by Sunil Karki ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the CalorieCraft app collects, why, who helps us run it, and the choices you have. Questions: karkisunil1200@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and email they share with us (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email). Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider; we never see them in plain text.
- Profile and goals: what you enter during setup and in settings — goal, sex, age, height, weight, target weight, activity level, pace, food preferences and units.
- Your logs: meals and their nutrition, saved foods and recipes, water, weight, exercise, fasting sessions, reminder settings, streaks and badges.
- Photos you choose to add: meal photos and nutrition-label photos you scan, and progress photos you save. We only access your camera or photo library when you use those features.
- Coach chat: the messages you send the in-app coach and its replies.
- Diagnostics: crash reports, error logs and performance data, which can include technical, device and network information and an internal account ID. A small share of app sessions, and sessions where an error happens, may include a screen recording for debugging; these recordings are configured to mask text and images on screen.
We don't use advertising, we don't sell your data, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To run the app: keep your diary, calculate your calorie and macro targets, show your progress, and sync your data to your account.
- To analyze what you ask us to: estimate the nutrition in a meal or label photo, build your starting plan, estimate exercise calories, read a recipe you paste, and answer your coach questions.
- To send account emails, such as sign-up confirmation and password reset codes.
- To find and fix bugs and keep the service secure, including limits that prevent abuse.
Who helps us run CalorieCraft
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Supabase — hosts our database, sign-in, photo storage and server code.
- OpenAI — receives meal and label photos you scan, and the text needed for features you use (coach messages with a summary of your nutrition, activity and weight logs; plan, exercise and recipe requests) to produce results. OpenAI handles this data under its API data policy, which may include keeping requests for a limited time for abuse monitoring.
- Open Food Facts — receives the words you type when you search its public food database.
- Resend — sends our account emails to your address.
- Sentry — receives the diagnostics described above.
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with them.
These providers may process data in the United States and other countries. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of users or the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you have an account. Coach chat messages are set to be deleted automatically after 90 days, and Clear chat removes the conversation from the app at any time. When your account is deleted, we delete your account, logs and photos from our database and photo storage. Some things are not covered by that: copies already sent to the services above (kept under their own policies), diagnostics already sent to Sentry, our hosting provider's backups (which expire on their own schedule), and app-wide usage totals that don't identify you.
Your choices
- Access and export: view your data in the app, and export your meals from Profile.
- Correct: edit your profile, goals and logs in the app.
- Delete: email karkisunil1200@gmail.com from your account's email address to ask us to delete your account and data. An in-app "Delete account" option in Profile is planned.
- Permissions: you can turn off camera, photo and notification access in your phone's settings. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Sign in with Apple: you can also stop using it for CalorieCraft in your Apple ID settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights over your personal data; email us and we'll help.
Health information
Your weight, body measurements and food logs are personal. We use them only to provide the app's features as described here. CalorieCraft gives general guidance, not medical advice, and is not a medical device.
Children
CalorieCraft is for people 13 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access to your data is limited to your account, and photos are stored privately. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the date above.
